Best Home Book Shelves for Kids - Reviews
Hi All! How has 2021 been so far? I bet you have some resolutions for how to get the kiddos back into routines after a long holiday away from school. Or maybe you’ve given up and just need simplicity in your lives! In a recent post I wrote about the benefit of having a kid's home library to entice your child to read more. Below I will review four of my favorite kid's book shelves for simplifying and organizing home libraries. I have used some of these similar styles in my classrooms. These also range in price so you can decide what’s good for your family and what fits your budget. You will love these cool additions to your child’s room or your living or reading room. The Seirione company makes great slanted book shelves with storage bins at the bottom for extra things. I really love the extra storage space for pens, pencils - just about anything a kid might need, you can probably fit a blanket and a small pillow in there as well. I personally like to make sure I am extra cozy when settling in with a good book! I also had a quiet reading corner in my classroom which kids loved for reading time. This slanted book case has 5 rows for books and is eco-friendly. You can anchor it to a wall for extra safety and the company provides a one-year warranty.
Next is a traditional one I had in my classroom and it is also a sturdy shelf that held up very well to the multiple book changes I did monthly, as well as all of the little hands that rummaged through books. It is the ECR4Kids single-sided or slanted book shelf. This book shelf is made of birch wood. It also has five rows, and they even have a toddler sized one which I am thinking of getting for my grandbaby. She’s only two, but she is already obsessed with books and learning, and that makes my heart so happy!
The Jukert company has a really cool concept for book shelves - cubes! This is a set of 9 cubes which come in 3 colors: bright pink, turquoise blue and a soft grey, and they are absolutely beautiful! The cubes can be added and stacked to grow with your child as they become interested in new books or new new genres. And it’s not just for books, you can add bins with reading accessories and other cozy things for reading such as book lamps, book markers, pens and post-its. Some kids like to draw the characters in their books, so having some drawing paper, markers and crayons is a good idea too!
Lastly, here is a more traditional block book cabinet that I also used in my classrooms. This one is also by ECR4Kids This is your very basic sturdy book shelf with 4 cubbies and a flat top for putting decorative items or toys on. It only comes in one color, a beautiful, glossy and natural wood finish. It is kid-friendly height-wise, and if your kids outgrow it, the shelf can be used for multiple things so you can be creative about its use afterwards.

I hope these reviews are super helpful and get you started on the right foot with organizing and simplifying in 2021, but mostly, I hope it gets your kids to love reading after seeing how beautifully the books are displayed. With lots of love for your little one's learning, Lexx
